Artist Statement
I call it 'Story Portrait' in Realism-Impression!
I paint a Portrait subject in the focus of Realism, and the surroundings and backgrounds in Impressionism. Voila! A Story Portrait in Realism-Impressions!
The Title of the painting on the Artists' Directory page is, 'Ol Roy'. He was a jovial man who played in downtown Roanoke, VA on the market. All of his worldly belongings are right there with him, as he was homeless. I am interested in donating prints of 'Ol' Roy' that will go to organizations to help the homeless, in honored memory of Ol' Roy, who is no longer with us.

'Driving Force' is my most recent completed painting and represents a time period of the stock car racing pioneers (and my Dad, Curtis Turner!) and NASCAR in 1956. This Occoneechee Orange Speedway was a dirt track in Hillsboro that is in the process of being restored. Proceeds of Prints go toward the preservation of this track as one of America's great legacies in the history of Stockcar Racing and NASCAR. See: http://www.historicspeedwaygroup.org/ or, contact me for more information by email or phone from the contact info on this page.
My inspirations from the artists in the past are: the Masters of Realism in Classical painting, and the Impressionists: Rubens, Rembrandt, Leonardo De Vinci, and Renoir, and Norman Rockwell.
